Leprosy Research Initiative

The Leprosy Research Initiative works to lessen the impact of leprosy through supporting pioneering research worldwide. Leprosy, also called Hansen's disease, is a long-lasting infection caused by bacteria. It mostly affects the skin and nerves and can lead to serious damage if not treated early.
